Creating the Perfect Fall Reading Nook

Fall Reading Nook

Simple ways to make a cozy place for your reading adventures.

Does anyone else here LOVE fall? It is my favorite season for more than one reason...But the NUMBER ONE fall activity that I am obsessed with? Reading in my cozy little corner of the house. Surprised? I didn’t think so. When we moved into this house, my husband made me a library/reading nook. Which I LOVE! I know how important it is for us book lovers to have our own reading space, and that not everyone has the ability/space to build one. So, today I wanted to give you a few simple ideas for creating your own space this fall where you can cozy up with a good book and lose yourself in another world.

  1. The first item you will need is a chair. Unless you prefer the floor. A couch, wingback, recliner, make sure it is somewhere YOU are comfortable.

  2. Cozy blanket. I read all year long, of course, but when it is finally cool enough out to be able to pull out my fuzzy blankets, my heart sings with joy.

  3. Fall Decor. I admit I go a little overboard on the decor in my house. But don’t worry, you don’t need to break the bank to add a little touch of Fall. A few faux pumpkins and leaves thrown on your end table with a vase of dried roses adds the perfect touch. (Any craft supply store will carry these. Mine are specifically from Hobby Lobby.)

  4. Candle. This is a MUST! WoodWick is my favorite brand because the wick crackles, which makes it sound like a fireplace. This scent is Pumpkin Butter and it is just what the house needs to SMELL like Fall.

  5. Tea.Coffee.Hot Cocoa. Now that the weather has turned (it was 30°F/-1°C this morning at my house) I like to sip warm beverages throughout the day.

  6. Slippers. We have hardwood floors throughout our house. Needless to say, if I have to crawl out of my little reading corner, my feet get cold immediately! So I always keep slippers handy.

  7. Books. Yes. More than one. Personally, I like the more mysterious books for this time of year, here are a few personal recommendations:

Books

Joanna Davidson Politano’s A Rumored Fortune

Jaime Jo Wright’s The Reckoning at Gossamer Pond

Sandra Byrd’s Lady of a Thousand Treasures

Abigail Wilson’s In the Shadow of Croft Towers

Now you can create your own special place this fall for your reading adventures. Send us your photos of your completed Fall reading nook!
