Book Collections to Gift

Special collections from publishers are great gifts to give any time of year. Not only do they typically have new cover designs, but sometimes it’s even illustrated inside or has special paper or lettering. I personally collect hardcover editions of Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, and am amazed by how creative book designers are!  If you have a book lover in your life, you can’t go wrong with any of these.

Puffin in Bloom Classics x Rifle Paper Co.

I love this beautiful Middle Grade Classics box set from the collaboration between Penguin Random House and Rifle Paper Co. They are visually appealing, plus the perfect size to hold. When I received my set one Christmas, I couldn’t stop smiling.

Juniper Books

Juniper designs and creates custom jackets for many different classics, and special editions of popular titles. Their online shop also carries many publishers’ special editions listed here as well. Follow their Instagram account for some bookish eye candy from books to shelves!

Gibb Smith’s Baby Lit Board Books

These are perfect to share your love of fiction with kids! Great classics and comes in 4 groupings. Which one would you start off with?

Penguin Clothbound Classics

These were my first love of collections! The clothbound hardcovers with different designs and colors are definitely catchy. They are available individually or premade sets like the Bronte Sisters, Jane Austen, Charles Dickens and even a Philosophy set. Juniper Books also sell a “Make Your Own Set” version, so you can pick and choose your favorite classics!

Folio Society

Folio Society is known for their gorgeous physical re-imagining of classics and sometimes new titles. Their Jane Austen set is by far my favorite with it’s gold shimmery covers, rich slipcases and illustrations by different artists. It’s definitely a luxury with the cost of one title is nearly the cost of one of the above box sets, but so worth it for any bibliophile and book collector.

Knickerbocker Classics & many more!

The Knickerbocker Classics comes in a softcover and are fairly inexpensive, especially if you search on Ebay for the out of print titles. From fiction to reference, like the U.S. Constitution, they come in a variety of colors with a complementing elastic band to close the book or to use as a bookmark. For new book collectors, this is definitely one cost effective and pretty set to start with.

There really are a lot of great editions and collector sets out there. The above are just few of my favorites. Penguin USA comes out with new editions almost on a yearly basis, and they’re all gorgeous. There’s the Puffin Classics Hardcover Box set and Penguin Drop Caps from Penguin USA. Rock Paper Books’ Paperback editions, Wordsworth Classics Collectors’ Edition with cover designs by illustrator Claire Shorrock, Canterbury Leather Classics and many, many more.
